Six Month Smile vs. Invisalign: Which Is Better For You?

Six Month Smile vs. Invisalign: Which Is Better For You?

Want to show the world your beautiful smile but are worried what they might say about your crooked teeth, your overbite, tooth gag or crowded teeth? Don’t worry. You’re not alone. Luckily, there are two great options that can give you the straight, healthy looking teeth that you’ve always wanted and it just so happens that we offer them both here. So, let’s talk you through the Six Month Smile and Invisalign, and help you decide which one is right for you.

What Is The Six Month Smile?

A specialised brace system that uses tooth-coloured wires and brackets to gently move the teeth into the client’s ideal position, putting particular focus on the teeth that are visible when smiling. Every brace is bespoke, created just for the client and their orthodontic condition, ensuring that everything from buck teeth to crooked teeth are taken care of, and your natural beauty is enhanced with a more appealing smile.

What Is Invisalign?

Invisalign are an industry leader in the use of removable aligners to straighten teeth, which are discrete and near-invisible. During your treatment you’ll be provided with a set of aligners - each helping to make gradual adjustments to your tooth’s position. Each set of aligners are worn for 2 weeks at a time, as the teeth move gently into their new and improved position. Easy to remove for easy cleaning, brushing and flossing, they also don’t require continuous trips to the dentist for tightening. In fact, Invisalign works hard to keep the right amount of pressure on your teeth for comfort and effectiveness.

How Does Invisalign and The Six Month Smile Compare?

Suitability

If you have severe issues with your teeth - such as large overbites - then Invisalign is not the choice for you. Invisalign is more for gapped teeth, crowded teeth, underbites and cross bites. Because these braces are also removable, they give the user peace of mind knowing that they can easily remove them should they want to.

Six Month Smiles are better for solving issues with your front teeth, though they can still be used for correcting the issues that Invisalign can. Able to achieve a greater level of tooth movement than Invisalign, they are the option to choose if you’re looking for a faster tooth straightening solution.

Timeframe

Dependent on case severity, Invisalign is usually worn for around 12 months, and requires the user to wear the trays for at least 22 hours a day in order to achieve this. As you can probably tell from the name, a Six Month Smile is the quicker choice.

Effectiveness

Six Month Smiles benefit from the fact that you can adjust each bracket easily to create that beautiful smile that you’re after. Invisalign, however, involves a thorough examination, x-rays and digital scans so that we can get a real understanding of your teeth, creating aligners that fit your teeth perfectly. We then monitor your progress every 6-8 weeks to ensure improvement and issue you with new aligners.
