A dental implant is a small titanium post placed into the jawbone to act as an artificial tooth root. Once it integrates with the bone – a process called osseointegration – a custom-made crown, bridge, or denture is fixed on top, giving you a permanent, stable tooth that looks, feels, and functions just like the real thing.

Successful dental implant treatment starts long before the surgery itself. At Parkfield Dental, every implant patient undergoes a comprehensive assessment that includes a cone beam CT (CBCT) scan – a three-dimensional X-ray that gives our implantologist a precise image of your jawbone density, height, and width, as well as the location of nerves and blood vessels.
This level of detail is critical. It allows us to confirm whether you have sufficient bone to support an implant, identify any anatomy that needs to be accounted for during placement, and plan the exact angle and depth of each implant before the day of surgery. For complex cases – including multiple implants, full-arch restorations, and immediate placement following extraction – this planning stage is what makes predictable outcomes possible.
Because our CBCT scanner is on-site, you receive your scan at the same practice where you will be treated. There are no referrals to external imaging centres, no delays in getting your results, and no gaps in the care team’s understanding of your case. Everything is reviewed and planned under one roof, by the clinician who will place your implant.
When a tooth needs to be removed, many patients assume they must wait months before an implant can be placed. At Parkfield Dental, for appropriate cases, we offer immediate implant placement – placing the titanium implant directly into the extraction socket at the same appointment the tooth is removed.
This approach, when planned correctly using CBCT imaging, eliminates an entire waiting phase from your treatment. There is no need for a socket preservation procedure in between – we assess the bone at the time of extraction, and where the conditions are right, we proceed with implant placement immediately.

A titanium post is placed into the jawbone, allowed to integrate over several months, and then topped with a custom-made porcelain crown matched precisely to the colour and shape of your surrounding teeth.
For patients who need a tooth removed, an immediate implant means the titanium post is placed into the socket at the same appointment as the extraction. This approach reduces your overall treatment time and the number of surgical procedures required.
